Blue classes are at Hyde park and Pink classes are at Hawthorn studios.
Please note recreational ballet is encouraged. Examinations are completely optional and the dance student will move to the next level accordingly with his or her friends.
Graded Syllabus in dance
Royal Academy of Dance
Pre Primary and Primary in dance.
Grade 1 to Grade 5 classes male and female syllabus.
The Royal Academy of Dance syllabi is taught to the student dancer during these classes. The syllabus is taught progressively over one year with the goal to sit The Royal Academy of Dance examination each year of the appropriate level . As the student dancer progresses through these grades they learn all facets of the classical ballet technique and terminology. In this syllabi a free movement and character section is also included to offer the child a taste of different genres to explore.
The Royal Academy of Dance
Higher grades classes male and female syllabus : grades 6,7 and 8 .
The Higher Grades are offered to all students 11years old and above . Grade 6,7 and 8 syllabus offers a beautifully choreographed body of work , inspired by the romantic era of ballet . In these classes the students often feel free to express their artistry and love of dance . All three grades are performed in flat ballet shoes and a long chiffon skirt for the females and an enjoyable element of free movement and character will also be explored
Repertoire classes;
Male and female syllabus
The repertoire classes include three levels of training incorporating three components within each level . Each level contains one class body of work component and two separate components containing a series of developmental exercises relating to one famous ballet repertoire variation that is danced and studied. This is fun and easy way to learn and perform beautiful classical ballet repertoire that all balletomaines know and love. In these classes the student dancer will perform variations from Giselle, Coppelia, Paquita, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker and Swan Lake. These classes are offered to male or female students from 12years to 100!
Vocational Graded Syllabus
Intermediate Foundation:
Male and female syllabus.
This syllabus is the first year of the vocational graded syllabus. Pointe work is now introduced and a mature and comprehensive body of work is developed.
An unset enchainment section is now offered replacing the free movement or character section offered in the previous grades.
Intermediate:
Male and female syllabus.
As the dancer progresses through the vocational graded work the syllabus intensifies.
Intermediate is a very important examination as if career in ballet or dance teaching is a career plan attaining intermediate examination accreditation is the pathway to begin studying your teacher’s diploma.
Advanced foundation :
Male and female syllabus
Follows on from the training of Intermediate and develops a comprehensive study of musicality , terminology performance, methodology and the strength is developed over the course of training in this body of work to perform the variation en pointe for the first time in this syllabi.
Advanced one :
Male and female syllabus
Continues the pathway of training. At this level the student dancer is taught how to execute a myriad of exercises with a profound knowledge of body and spatial awareness, to execute balance and strength through body and mind and a healthy headspace to project musicality and performance quality in their own and unique way. If a distinction is awarded to the student dancer at this level he/she may enter the RAD Bursary.
Advanced two :
Male and female syllabus
This syllabus is the highest vocational graded level. This is cultivation and demonstration of training and discipline the dancer has developed throughout the years of carefully cultivated training. This is also a glorious celebration of the dancer now being able to perform with almost professional ability very difficult excerpts with aplomb.
Solo Seal Award
Male and female syllabus
Solo seal is the highest accolade in the Royal Academy of Dance training.
To enter this award the dancer needs to attain a distinction for his/her advanced two exam.
Miss Natanya has had numerous students undertake this award around Australia.
Additional Ballet Classes
Baby’s Ballet;
Male and Female. with Ms’s Natanya.
Baby’s ballet classes for children from 2.5 yrs to 4 yrs of age allows our little ones an introduction to the world of dance in a gentle, fun, exciting and creative manner.
This class is based on classical ballet technique but allows imaginative movement to classical and contemporary music allowing the young students to show their creativity without being afraid of criticism.
This in turn enables them to be confident and willing to share their ideas with others in the class.
Private coaching:
Male and female syllabus
Private coaching is a one on one tutoring . Proven to be a highly successful program for those who would like to excel in their current exam work or need a little extra support. Many students undertake multiple ballet and dance competitions throughout the year worldwide and need unique choreography routines and or repertoire tuitions and detailing.
Private coaching is also excellent for children living in rural communities who would like specialised training to support their trading , and some children with learning or intellectual disabilities
Open Classical Class:
Male and female syllabus
With Ms’s Natanya or Ms Jesse.
Offers a good workout class with great music and fun filled atmosphere with friends, great to keep fit and fulfil your love of ballet and keep your ballet skills up. Exercise without feeling like exercise, in a non judgmental space with like minded supporting peers.
Open to all ages, some ballet training required.
Adult ballet class and adult beginner ballet class:
Licensed Silver Swans tutor.
For all who have always wanted to do ballet and never had the opportunity now is the time. Come to class and be a part of something that becomes apart of you. Be a part of the wonderful world of ballet and elegance. Ballet gives the soul an incredible sense of calmness and awareness and there’s so much to think you can’t think about anything else. Time to escape everyday mundanity and exercise without even knowing you are. Make friends with those of the same bent and enjoy your new ballet body and poise.
Other Genres of Dance
Contemporary:
With Ms Jesse.
Focus on spine articulations and floor work; dancers work their entire body to move freely in and out of the floor, finding strength and fluidity.
Jazz:
With Ms Jesse.
Challenging dancers to move more dynamically. Focusing on kicks, turns and leaps, each week exploring traditional and contemporary jazz techniques.
Limber:
With Ms Jesse.
To aid students in building a balance in their technique of strength and flexibility, helping to understand their body and how to look after it. Combines cardio, station workouts, pilates/core and strengthening exercises, body awareness, and stretching.
